Council At-Large

Randy Schultz

Randy S. Schultz is the incumbent Deputy Mayor of St. Joseph and a current City Council At-Large member seeking re-election in the April 7, 2026, general municipal election. First elected to the council in 2022, Schultz is pursuing a second term representing the city at large. Professionally, he works in business development at RS Electric Corp and brings nearly four decades of experience in the construction industry. A lifelong St. Joseph resident and graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School, he has served on several community organizations, including the Pony Express Museum board, the Missouri Western State University Foundation, and the United Way Allocation Committee. He also previously served as president of the St. Francis School Board.

Vision

Schultz’s campaign emphasizes continuing what he describes as the city’s current progress while addressing remaining priorities. He has framed his re-election effort around completing “unfinished business,” with a focus on maintaining public safety improvements, encouraging housing development, and supporting community partnerships that address social challenges. Drawing on his construction background, he promotes practical development strategies aimed at strengthening neighborhoods and expanding housing opportunities. His vision centers on steady growth, infrastructure investment, and collaborative local governance.

The Issues

Schultz highlights public safety as a central accomplishment and priority, pointing to the passage of a police tax during his first term that funded new equipment, vehicles, and technology for law enforcement. He also advocates for residential development initiatives, including new single-family housing construction and recent apartment development projects intended to revitalize vacant areas. Additionally, he supports social service partnerships, including a mental-health response initiative pairing police officers with trained professionals to assist unhoused residents and individuals in crisis.
